Every three years IASPM Benelux holds elections for positions on the executive board (renewed candidacies are possible). We do this to introduce more opportunities for all members to become actively involved in the branch’s leadership and to cultivate a dynamic branch culture. The current board, elected at the 2022 student conference will be formally concluding its term this year. As such, we herewith announce executive board elections during the upcoming general meeting to take place at the 10th annual IASPM Benelux student conference on June 20th in Nijmegen (general meeting will also be streamed online).
In line with these upcoming elections, we seek expressions of interest in one or more of the following positions on the board. Applicants, when applying, should submit a list of which of the following five roles they are willing to serve in (you can stand as a candidate for all roles, or any number of select roles):
chair
(overall vision, coordination, representation, etc.)
general secretary
(internal administration, agendas, minutes, etc.)
treasurer / membership secretary
(financial administration, billing, online banking, membership lists, etc.)
(social) media manager
(website updates, event promotion, online communication)
National representative/ member-at-large
(network with other branches, respond to requests from IASPM journal/international)
For expressions of interest, please send a short introduction of yourself (incl. institutional affiliation) and your motivation to join the board (max. 250 words) along with the list of roles you are willing to fill to the IASPM Benelux secretary (j.z.zienkiewicz@rug.nl) by June 6th.
A diverse board representing a range of universities, regions within the Benelux, identities, and stakeholders within popular music studies is essential. We especially encourage popular music scholars from Belgium and Luxembourg, scholars from a diverse range of popular music related university programs within The Netherlands, research/scholarship-focused representatives of popular music industries, women, and people of colour to come forth as candidates. We also encourage diverse levels of seniority among board members, inviting PhD students and early career researchers, as well as applicants from HBO institutions and music industry professionals to apply.
Candidacies will be shared with the membership ahead of the general meeting and elections.
With questions, please contact our general secretary Joanna Zienkiewicz (j.z.zienkiewicz@rug.nl ).
